The village of Bryncrug is an ideal base for the young and old alike.
From the cottage you can walk or bike down the lane and out on to the river where kingfishers and other wild life can be seen, then carry on if your legs can stand it and follow the river out to the sea, down the beach and back into Tywyn, where you can catch either the bus home or the famous Tal-y-lyn Railway.
If bird watching is for you then the famous ‘Bird Rock’ is just 10 mins drive away with its amazing array of bird life. For those that prefer fishing then a boat trip out to sea to catch bass and mackerel are a must from Aberdovey, or call in at ‘Betty’s’ village shop in Bryncrug and buy a permit to fish on the river.
For those mad enough to want extreme sports then take your bike to one of Wales famous mountain bike centers Coed-y-Brenin or learn to kite surf in Aberdovey. Cader Idris provides a great days hiking, but be well prepared. Or drive up to Bala about 45 mins away and do some white water rafting. Drive round the coast to Arthog and see the countryside on horse back at the Pony Trekking Center.
Tywyn itself is just a 5 min drive away and is the home of the Famous Tal-y-lyn Railway, great for a day trip, you can hop on and off to visit Dolgoch Falls or get off at Abergynolwyn and walk down to the pub for lunch.
For those with a young family who just want to sit on the beach then Tywyn is great for its safe beach and its safe bathing, and its great for surfing.
Aberdovey is just 15 mins away, here to can be found a great sandy beach, and the home of an 18 hole seaside links golf course, and for those who like messing around on the sea then Aberdovey is the place to launch your boat.
